Privacy Policy

MyCovid Passport knows your privacy is important to you. This Privacy Policy applies to the MyCovid Passport Website (“Website” available at mycovidpassport.org), the MyCovid Passport Mobile Applications and MyCovid Passport, such as text, graphics, videos, images, information, and other material. It describes how we collect, use, secure, and share information of our users.

PreeMe+You built the MyCovid Passport application as a health tracking and communication tool for the public during the global COVID-19 pandemic. If you choose to use our any of MyCovid Passport Sites and Apps, along with the information and services made available to you through the MyCovid Passport Sites and Apps (collectively, the “Services”), then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation to this policy. The Personal Information that we collect is used for providing and improving MyCovid Passport. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy. The terms used in this Privacy Policy have the same meanings as in our Terms and Conditions, which is accessible at www.mycovidpassport.org unless otherwise defined in this Privacy Policy.

Information Collection and Use

For a better experience, while using our Services, we may require you to provide us with certain personally identifiable information. No information you share will be used for commercial purposes. This app was created by doctors and researchers at PreeMe+You and the University of Chicago Medical Center. They have access to the information you enter. If aggregate data derived from use of the MyCovid Passport application can be useful for the benefit of public health, including research and public policies related to COVID-19, we may choose to share it for this purpose. In these cases, an anonymous code will be used to replace your personal details.

You are not required to create a MyCovid Passport account to gain access to our website and any content associated. You are required to create an account for our mobile applications because each user’s health trajectory is unique. If you do create an account, we require an email address and password. This is only for usability of the mobile app.

To help personalize your experience, we may also ask for certain, limited demographic information, including the user’s (or person for whom the user is tracking) sex, first name or a nickname (you can choose to share this or not), birth year, whether or not they live with people, number of preexisting conditions, and the number of days the person has been experiencing symptoms, if any. You have the choice of whether or not to use our photo function with the app. You are the complete owner of any photos you would like to use for personalizing the app; we do not send photos to our server to be stored by MyCovid Passport in any way. We collect other information (excluding the photos) so that it can be used for the purposes explained in this Privacy Policy (the collective fight to stop the spread of COVID-19).

The MyCovid Passport app uses “application data caches” which is only used to store a token to mark your place when in the process of answering questions. MyCovid Passport also contacts a third-party software provider, Send Grid, in order to recover forgotten passwords. We use the information we collect to operate and provide you with the MyCovid Passport Website, Applications and Content. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Authenticating your login;
  • Personalizing your MyCovid Passport experience and customizing your profile;
  • Allowing you to monitor your progress in MyCovid Passport;
  • A third-party service we use, SendGrid, in order to help you reclaim a lost password;
  • Protecting our intellectual property or other rights; and
  • Managing and improving our mission, business, Website, Applications, and Content.

We only collect your email for the purpose of creating unique accounts for each user and/or profile created. We will not be sending you any emails, unless it is to re-set your password or as required by law. We also reserve the right to use or share non-personal information (e.g., de-identified or aggregate data) for any purpose related to the improvement of human health and medicine.
